Tweetstats – A Cool Twitter Tool

Using Twitter on a day to day basis and seeing the growth it has had in 2008 has brought about many applications and tools which I like to check out for myself. An interesting Twitter tool I’d like to share with you today is Tweetstats.

Tweetstats will graph your:

  • Tweets per hour
  • Tweets per month
  • Tweet timeline
  • Reply statistics

When you arrive at their homepage, it will ask for your Twitter ID. Type that in and hit the button to graph your tweets!

The results displayed will show you your

  • tweet timeline, or tweets per day (tpd),
  • your tweet density ie: what time of day you tweet the most,
  • your aggregate hourly and daily tweets,
  • your @replies, and
  • the interface you used to tweet with ie: twhirl, tweetdeck etc…

My stats showed a very lazy 4.2 tweets per day. January is a slow online month for me as it’s school holidays here in Melbourne and with the kids at home, I do need to pay attention to them and have a life, lol.

Aside from the Tweetstats, it will also rustle up your TweetCloud. This gives you an insight into the words you use most on Twitter. My top five words are: thanks, good, reading, lol, twitter. I guess that’s what Twitter is all about!

Tweetstats recommends visiting Wordle to make this TweetCloud if you’re not so fond of the one they display. The larger sized words are the ones I use more so than others and you can do this in Wordle by repeating the particular word that is mentioned more than others when typing in the cloud you’re wanting to make.

It will show you @replies as well. BTW, after I made this, I discovered that @nextinstinct has now changed his Twitter ID to @Ed in case you wanted to go look him up. Ed’s a really cool guy to follow and please don’t be disappointed if he doesn’t follow you back. He follows a certain kind of conversation and you will get some great tips and links from him if you do decide to have his tweets in your stream.

Another cool feature of Tweetstats is that it provides you with the Twitter Trending Stats meaning the Top 100 Trends that are currently hot on Twitter. This can be very useful if you’re using Twitter for niche marketing. The trend clouds actually take you to the Twitter search to see who has been tweeting these particular words. Benjamin Button seems to be at the top of the hottest topics today.

I hope you find Tweetstats useful. Give me some feedback in the comments so I know if I’m on the right track here. It will be great to hear from you.

  1. Hi Ange and Clint. I must admit I joined Twitter as a result of curiosity. Although I’m still learning to use it, in amongst other things, I find it comes in handy for touching base with friends. I see even the likes of Kevin Rudd PM and President Oboma are using it. Just goes to show the influence of social networking sites such as Twitter. Take Care – Peter
